Annual General Meeting held at The Bell, Eveercreech November 4th 2006

1. 31 Members Present
2. Apologies for absence received from Barbara Chorley and Sheila Barnes
3. Minutes of the 2005 AGM: Copies were distributed to the members of the meeting. Minutes accepted and signed by Chairman Trevor Evans
4. Matters arising: None.
5. Chairman's Address: (copy on file) Obituary to Derek Baker and Norman Crabtree. Thanks to walk leaders and work party. Increase in number of walkers (record set at 43 last Thursday) and length of walks. Standing down speech.
6. Treasurer's Report: Copies of audited balance sheets circulated. Healthy balance. Change of format, funding not based on number of members, area has to submit amount. Allocated £500 from county last year now asked for £800 - increase in programme costs and mileage claim. £400 given for Dartmoor walks.
7. Adoption of Treasurer's Report: Proposed by Rose Docherty. Seconded by Bob Berry. All agreed
8. Appointment of Auditor: Auditor appointed.
9. Programme Secretary's Report: New format of programme, uses more paper but Frome College can print cheaply. Meeting at PRCP back on programme by request. Saturated with pub walks. Statistics for past year: 143 walks = 1,065 miles. Details of mobile library on web site.
10. Press Officer's Report: No press officer.
11. Footpath Officer's Report: No footpath officer, but Colin Mansfield has covered East Mendip and Trevor Evans has been covering West Mendip. Trevor reported concern about walkers on one diversion involving horses.
12. Footpath Work Report: Bob Berry read from his report (copy held on file) He covered Derek and Norman's contribution; commemorative plaques will be fixed to stiles. Help from Mendip District Council. Collaboration with Shepton Mallet Town Council to produce a Booklet on walks around Shepton. Successful Festival of Summer Walks and cream teas. Thanks to all working party volunteers. The figures for work party this year are - 120 Stiles, 78 fingerposts, 10 bridges, 9 inc. 2 palisade kissing gates, 52 stile repairs, 35 steps, 20 marker posts, plus clearance and waymarking. Request for a member to lead a clearance party.
13. Social Secretary's Report: In the absence of Michael Calverley Trevor reported successful social events from his report.
14. Webmaster' Report: Owen read his report (copy of file) Web site continues to develop in content, scope and layout. Fee of under £80 now has relevant and easily remembered web address of mendipramblers. co. uk. Description of site. Linked to others including the Somerset Area website.
