WALTON on December 23rd 2008. After his latest mishap we carted Ken off to outpatients in between trying to re-open an old bridge and replacing several old stiles on the Mendip/South Somerset border

This is the fenced off entrance to an old bridge we tried to clear and open up

Once the bridge had been cleared of undergrowth it was obvious that we couldn't repair it

James demonstrates the precaurious state of the uprights

At the othe end of the bridge Ken kept his eye on the job until the brambles bit back

We reckon the dangerous bridge is in South Somerset so we left it for them to sort out and moved onto some stile work

In this area ditches and rhynes provide small technical challenges

And of course remedial fence work is often needed

The plank is original

And so is Bob

This old stile needs replacing

Eric and Technical Tony are soon at work digging holes for the new stile

And now it's Ken's turn to contribute the step work
