Rick gets the first
pose in |

But Colin is not to be outdone! |

And of course others actually do
the main work. Here Gus is tamping in around the bottom of the stile. |
|
The larger team is meanwhile working
on a stile and plank bridge nearby |

Eric beds in one end of the plank |

Rick watches Dave digging holes
for the stile and James checks he hasn't steppped in a cow pat |
|
Finishing off. Another job done |

And this next one was much easier
|
The next set of photos are along Mells Stream near the Packsaddle
Bridge in Holcombe. |

This was the first stile we replaced
with a kissing gate |

And this was the second
|
The second location again from the
other side |

King post done on the second kissing
gate |
Dave, Bryn and Ken on the final
stages of the first kissing gate
|
Bob, Gus and ? on the third kissing
gate. The uneven ground caused problems but it would seem that there
is currently as much space to squeeze UNDER the gate as around it! |
|

This has to be the worst part of
kissing gate construction -- shaping the ends of all 8 side struts.
|

Job done. Bob came over to help
Rick, Colin and me finish off
|
We were so pleased with the job
that I took another photo looking from the other direction! |
