COLEFORD area in July 2007 -- Walkway near Hurdlestone Wood north of Stoke St.Michael

Bob balances mid-stream hoping Bryn gives him warning before he completes sawing through the tree trunk

And that's the foliage out of the way -- now the walkway building can start

The first plank of four being taken across

With the holes dug the first support on the Ham end is nearing completion

Ken watches sceptically as Bob starts digging a hole in the middle of the pond

Bryn reluctantly agrees to pose

The team check they've got the first "water post hole" deep enough

Ken is now convinced about underwater holes and starts on the second one.

Halfway over and time to ponder the next stage-- which results in "Bob's kink" !!

Bob starts assembling the second end support

But a wise Ken soon discovers that it's easier to rest it on the bridge

Bryn puzzles the problem of filling and compacting holes that are under the surface of the water

Bryn is still compacting in the "underwater holes". This view is from Ham end

Now it's Ken's go at stabilising the central supports.

Ken and Bryn admire the nearly finished job. This photo is again from the Ham end

The final stage is to nail the planks to the uprights

A close up of the finished walkway

From Stoke St.Michael end. The finished job. Our walkway replaces the "stepping stones"-- which are often submerged! --across the pond
