On the Mendip Way at Thrupe we put in a kissing gate in September 2005

The long and short of it is that the farmer wants a kissing gate. Apparently his cows are Olympic athletes and the lovely old stone stile isn't high enough

Dave puzzles and calculates the critical positioning of the main gate support

I can't believe this photo with Dave resting --- and -- enough said!

The team are all well drilled

Bob keeps a level head

Packing the base needs plenty of stones -- not a problem today

And finally we nail on waymarks

We don't do kissing gates very often and today Colin "the engineer" appeared with a big piece of paper full of drawing and measurements to help us out. If you are wondering why visit the first kissing gate we everdid at the top of Westbury-Sub-Mendip village!!
