Shepton Mallet -- the start of the next cycle -- our area for 05/06

First dismantle what's left of any old stile

And put in the new stile as far away from the tree as possible -- big tree means big roots means hole digging problems -- trust me I know!!

Meanwhile Dave and Bob have a different problem. Apparantely the farmer wants that prehistoric gate and we have to take it back to his farm!

First stile just about finished by 11.30

And the other stile is also coming on well too

There's an elephant down there somewhere (if you understand that joke you have been on work parties!)

Our chairman in typical pose. These were stiles 4 and 5 -- and we still finished before 2.30 pm -- a satisfying day's work

Now that we have finished Batcombe area we have moved onto Shepton Mallet. Over the next 9 months or so we anticipate putting in about 100 stiles. We'll be opening up many paths that have been blocked for years. Why not come to our Walking Festival on August Bank Holiday 2006 and see what's been achieved?
