WYE VALLEY and FOREST of DEAN weekend --- October 2006

This was Owen and Paula's fifth October long weekend and this year most folk based themselves near Coleford. Saturday's walk was "on the way" above Tintern Abbey and involved a part of the Offa's Dyke Path. Sunday's walk contained another section of Offa's Dyke, and took in Slade Bottom(!) and St. Briavels. There were two shorter walks on Monday, both starting from Symonds Yat. The morning one took in part of the Wye Valley Way and passed through Goodrich and Welsh Bicknor and the afternoon walk went through English Bicknor and followed part of the Wysis Way. On Tuesday there were another two short walks, both within the Forest of Dean. The morning walk took in another short section of the Wysis Way and some of the Gloucestershire Way and the final walk passed alongside Cannop Ponds.
