EXMOUTH LONG Weekend --- March 2007
A return to Exmouth five years after Norman first started organising the pre-easter long weekends. Numbers continue to grow -- 62 this year! On each of the four days there was a choice of at least one long and one short walk All the photos below are of the long walks, which included two sections of the East Devon Way and a circuit from East Budleigh which took in part of the coastal path.

June negotiates a tricky stile exit

A convenient location for a break!

Tony in pole position while Bob checks for back markers

Plodding on in small conversational groups
DAY ONE -- Above and either side
We met at Broadhembury Village Hall where Norman has arranged for the use of their kitchen. So we had tea and biscuits before and after our walk.
DAY TWO -- Three rows of Pictures Below
The coach dropped us at Newton Poppleford and we walked back to exmouth along the East Devon Way.

Paula in her usual good spirits

Feeling a bit chilly and raring to set off

Dave and Brian

Regrouping

It had warmed up considerably by the time we stopped for a break

These muddy ruts were definitely not to June's liking!

Emily wonders what's for lunch in that plastic bag

A pile of logs provides a good seat for lunch

The sun has come out and the terrain is much more open towards the end of the day's walk

The final stop taken where Gill tried to dislodge her nose with her walking stick!

Can we start wonder Sheila and James

Brigit is feeling the cold as we start along the old railway line

James checks his watch thinking it's time for a break but leader Bob strides on regardless

Surely this is the top now!

After the big climb we're rewarded with the lunch stop!

But then we had a kilometre of mud, stones and water at the bottom of a mini-gorge

Paula can even talk backwards

Final stop at Tipton St.John

Then an easy walk alongside the river

In by now much warmer conditions
DAY THREE -- Either side and three rows above
We drove to Bowd and did a circular route which included part of the East Devon Way as far as Sidbury
DAY FOUR -- All the rows below
We started at east Budleigh and walked down the Otter to the coast. Having walked along the coast path to the caravan park we turned inland to Otterton and finished along the Otter once again.

While the women pose for the camera, the blokes are more interested in looking for fish

Lovely sunny start to the last day

Leaving the Otter we head along the coastal path

Where a good view is always a good excuse for a break

And before we leave the coastal path it's time for lunch lazing in the continuing sunshine

Back inland towards the Otter again

Have Tony and mary fallen out?

June and Rosemary look on as Bob carefully considers the implications of their query

Gill is leading us home
And now the only question remaining is

WHERE ARE WE GOING NEXT YEAR NORMAN?
