DARTMOOR weekend --- October 2007

Rick is now the October long weekend organiser and this year most folk based themselves near Okehampton.

Friday's walk was "on the way" at Castle Drago. Saturday's walks started from Belstone and the photos below are from the longer walk over Higher Tor and Little Hound Tor and back along the river Taw from South Zeals. On Sunday the starting point was Fernworthy Reservoir where the 13 mile walk, on which the photos below were taken, passed through Postbridge and Sousson's Down. Lydford was the location of two consecutive walks on Monday. The morning walk was a gentle amble through the village and then onto the moor at Nodden gate whereas Rick tested us out in the afternoon mist up and around Bray Tor and St. Links Tor. Finally on Tuesday we returned to Fernworthy Reservoir and wandered about in the mist in a convoluted figure of eight which passed the Long Stone twice and took in Scornhill Down and Chagford Common.
